On Friday, we went to the People's Park in Nanchang. It was hot and humid but other than that, it was fun. Matt and Taylor went on a roller coaster type thing that I'm sure had never seen a safety inspection. Then Taylor and Audrey went inside of a large inflatable ball and floated on a lake. The idea is to stand up inside and travel around hamster-style but they had a hard time getting started. We have some hilarious video of them. Needless to say, I didn't give it a try. It was so hot and humid outside of the ball that I didn't want to know what it felt like inside of it.
After the park, we went to the porcelain district. I found the '100 Girls' tea set which was 860 yuan while many other comparable sets were 180. I was only able to get the lady to come down to 800 yuan and throw in a set of chopsticks so I don't have much hope for my bargaining skills for the rest of our stay in China. It was funny as we checked out, when the lady mentioned that they also have a '100 Boys' set. She said quite bluntly, 'In China, we like the boy.' I said, 'Well, we like all children. We have 5 of them.' That seemed to promptly end the conversation....:)
