Audrey going with the theory that 'bigger is better.'
Noah gets a pumpkin...and a hernia.
Our little pumpkin...with his little pumpkin.

Our kiddos in the pumpkin patch.

Meanwhile, in another part of town, a Daddy/Daughter church Halloween party was taking place. The witch and vampire had a fun evening together. The tricky part to the night was that mom was in charge of the food for the DD party so there was some creative coordination involved. But, in the end it all worked out and a great time was had by all.
Granted, this is subtle enough not to turn away the average consumer-but if I can spot a Chinese baby in a crowd 5 miles down the road, this ad wasn't going to get by me! I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted. Apparently, as consumers of all things baby, the China adoption community is such a force to be reckoned with that there are now ads created just to tug at OUR heartstrings and capitalize on what is the slippery slope of our sanity with the ever increasing wait to referral. Perhaps the increase in wait times is having an effect on retail-America. Maybe the increased wait times are actually a conspiracy between our two countries to extend the period of time that we will be dumping money into the American economy?
I saw this picture when I was scouting out online adoption education courses for myself and for clients and it made me smile...and miss Meili. I don't know if you can miss someone that you haven't met yet, but I miss her.
I'm gearing myself up for a May referral and July travel. Bad news....it will be hot-but we're used to 110 on a good Summer day. Good news....less clothes to pack (more room for shopping!) and the kids will be out of school. As of today, I think that we will take Taylor and Audrey with us to China. We're not telling them, of course, in case things change or we can't affort their airline tickets. I just can't see the kids (the older ones, anyway) missing out on this experience. They are just as frustrated with the wait as we are and they want to meet their sister just as badly as we want to meet our daughter. Plus, Taylor is a good photographer...;o)
And here's the sign we saw just around the corner AFTER feeding the giraffe...OOPS!
.

Happy Birthday Xanderbonie! We love you!!!

So, there are lots of fun things to do in Southern Arizona...not sure that this is one of them. We spent the afternoon at the Titan Missile Museum. It was as fun as touring an abandoned nuclear missile silo could be. It's one of those touristy things to do once and cross off of your list. Check. The highlight for the kids was wearing these very cool (not) hats. This last pic was snapped just after we had received our requisite, "Are ALL of those kids yours???" from one of the resident volunteers. Yep, a Bouton family outing just wouldn't be complete without one of those...
When I asked my husband if there was anything noteworthy about today he said, "Is it the anniversary of the day that we began dating???" Nice try, honey.....but no. Today marks 6 months since we (or our dossier, at least) were logged in. Yep, the wait may be long and getting longer, but at least we have a place in line for this crazy roller coaster ride!
Here's Noah and Xander watching "Cookie T.V." It's been raining cats and dogs and javelinas here in Tucson lately and the running family joke is that mom only bakes when it rains...better then than when its 110 degrees outside, right? During recent rainy-day baking, the little boys decided to pull up a step-stool and watch the cookies bake. Noah coined the phrase, "Cookie T.V." and Xander asked for popcorn. Ah...simple pleasures.

Audrey is starting 3rd grade this year but is tall enough to pass for a 5th grader. She is growing up too fast! She makes having a daughter so much fun that we have to go to China so we can do it again!!!
I couldn't quite figure out why Taylor was in such a bad mood this morning. Later in the day it hit me that he is starting junior high and if it hadn't happened yet already, today is the official day that anything that your mom wants you to do is no longer cool-especially posing for pictures at the bus stop! Here's my Tbone just before being fed to the junior high wolves!
For Noah's first day, I was able to attend Kindergarten orientation with him. He was a little nervous before we left the house but once he got to school and saw the other kids, the playground and all of the toys, he was good to go! Our school district started full day kindergarten this year with the exception of 2 schools including ours. Fine with me! I'm not ready to let this little guy go for a whole day yet!!!
Nope, this isn't Jenn after eating Matt's dutch oven cooking for a week...
This guy was so close to the car that I could feel his breath when I stuck my head out of the window to get this shot
Boutons and Tuttles:
Jenn, Matt, Noah Audrey, Taylor, Xander

Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of meeting up with Lisa from Tate-r-bug! We passed through Salt Lake on our way home from Yellowstone and made arrangements to meet. Lisa has such a fun personality and related so well to my kids that I can easily tell that she is going to be a great mom. Tate is going to be one lucky kiddo!
